Tangerine is a thing of past!

The colour of the year for 2013 is Emerald, and also happens to be my favourite colour. I have a gorgeous Burberry bowling bag in the perfect Green colour to follow the trend right now. But I will definitely be adding more of this colour to my wardrobe seeing as its popping up everywhere. Since last year’s colour of the year, Tangerine, made for wearable makeup, one would think that this year’s Emerald can’t possibly be worn on the face.
However Sephora‘s Emerald Pantone Universe collection is more user friendly than you think. The bold green brings out eyes of all colour, so check out my recommendations below, which include the mini nail lacquers as well, for the less daring.

Sephora x Pantone - fashionist's pick

Clockwise from top right: Color Theory Shadow Block in Eclipsed ($26),
Graphic Sculpt Waterproof Jumbo Eyeliner in Emerald ($17), Mini Graphic Effect Lacquers ($18), Prismatic Glitter False Eyelashes ($10) & Color Theory Sculpting Blush ($24)

If you’re still too scared to try the colour as makeup, the collection offers you the chance to add the colour to your makeup stash with these bright Emerald Green tools.

20130326-213502.jpgI’ve been looking forward to the Chanel Spring 2013 collection, mostly because I’m dying to see he Chanel Hula Hoop Bag in the flesh. Chanel’s accessories are very colorful this season as we saw on the runway, and these bags stood out in the Brand’s ad campaign for the season as well. Although the bags are bright and fun, they still retain that signature Chanel look.
What I love most about this collection are the new versions of the extremely popular Boy Bag. They’re all so beautiful, it so difficult to pick a favourite. Which one do you like most?

Even though we didn’t see a lot of studs on the Spring 2013 runway, they seem to be a huge trend on clutches for this season. Usually metallic embellishments are more of a fall collection staple, but the increasing popularity of the Valentino Rockstud collection, and its endurance through different seasons, might be part of the reason why more designers are turning towards studs this Spring to bring a little toughness to traditional feminine clutches, pouches and minaudières.
Brands like Christian Louboutin and Alexander McQueen have been using the punk metal embellishment for a while now, and they do it really well. But Tory Burch, Diane Von Furstenberg and Michael Kors are taking note, and adding studs to their accessories as well.
I’ve picked out some of the best from the tons of new clutches to hit the market. There are definitely some colours that will work wonders with the summer wardrobe.

I have an undeterred love for Nail Polish. That, however, does not mean that my nails are always in impeccable condition and of perfect length. I’m always (emphasis on always) breaking them because they happen to be extremely brittle and thin. I do my best, using nail hardeners and strengthening base coats, but they still chip. My conclusion is, that if I want long, healthy nails I have to stop doing the dishes and refrain from lifting things. Which is sadly not possible. I have even chipped my nails in the shower! How stupid does that sound but its true, probably something to do with the water I guess. I did however accidentally find, that rubbing garlic on my nails strengthened them, and made them hard. Sadly I’m too lazy to turn this accidental remedy into a habit.

Presenting a new series “Nailed It” on the blog, here’s the first manicure post.

Beware: The nail lengths will not always be pretty for your taste, or you might even notice chips. I’ll try my best to make them as appealing as possible, so that you’re not distracted from the manicure itself.

Although I’m an avid shopper, I haven’t had a lot of experience with Online Shopping. I tend to drool at stuff that I want on my favourite websites, add them to my cart, and then try to rationalize my splurge the whole day. Which, by the way, is never good! Because I end up not clicking “Buy”.
Not because I don’t want that particular bag, but mostly because I end up feeling bad about spending my savings. The reason I give myself, is that I’d rather save a little more and spoil myself with a bigger investment (hello, Chanel)!
That doesn’t however stop me from frequently visiting websites like Net-a-Porter, Shopbop and LUISAVIAROMA only to check out the latest collections.
This past week I ended up discovering a website, which I’d not heard of before, but I have to say, I was very impressed! The website, called Shoescribe.com, is probably the best Online Shopping discovery I’ve made.

Shoescribe boasts shoes from designers all over the world like Sergio Rossi to McQueen, Guiseppe Zanotti to Alexander Wang, and Puma to Casadei. The list goes on. Searching for a particular kind of shoe was never easier with filters for colour, heel kind, shoe type as well as sizes. There are also curated lists if you’re looking for a shoe for an occasion.
A feature that really caught my eye was the resident “Shoe Guru“! Going by the name of Ms. Suzie Scribe, she helps you deal with your footwear problems. Don’t know how to style your new lace dress, or have an important date coming up, you can totally post your questions to her. How great is that?! You can also check out “Shoe Valet” for tips on how to take care of those beauties you cherish, they even have a list of trusted cobblers from around the world.

So I’m going back to drooling over the new arrivals on Shoescribe. Check it out and tell me what you think!

So when Alexander Wang joined Balenciaga end of last year, everyone in the fashion world was waiting impatiently to see his debut collection for Fall 2013 season. I’m a huge fan of Alexander Wang’s high-end street wear, his bags are a must-have! Though there was doubts about how the twenty-nine year old designer would fare at one of fashions most celebrated couture houses, Wang definitely stepped up to the position. The Fall 2013 line was smart, modern line of clothing with enough nods to the house’s past lines. But enough of that. Let’s talk about the shoes that were on the runway… what is the deal with these?

Since I missed the live stream of the show (a recent obsession), I haven’t seen the models on the runway trying to walk in these, but I’m pretty sure they were having a hard time. This is definitely the most toe cleavage I’ve ever seen! The tong straps on most designs are probably only functional, and only keeping the shoe from slipping right out of their feet. However, these shoes still manage to look chic. Do you think you would ever try a pair?

Not to forget, Wang debuted his first bag for the brand, a box clutch with a silver frame handle, which was more promising than some of the shoes.

I love a good shopping deal so I just had to share these amazing products I found on sale at Farfetch. Farfetch ships worldwide, so there’s no reason not to go check if an item can be ticked off your wishlist. Check out this Alexander McQueen Skull Clasp Clutch I found for USD885 - I mean, come on!!

Valentino‘s Rockstud collection, introduced a few seasons ago, has added just the right amount of edge to the brand which is synonymous with femininity and elegance. So if you’re inclined towards well-made items but love a little spunk every now and then, then this line is definitely for you. When I saw the Spring ’13 Runway images for Valentino, the accessories were a huge dose of sophistication with the classic Rockstud feel, and I knew I was in love with the collection instantly. The lucite bags, which are a huge trend this Spring, are definitely for the confident fashionista in you and aptly named “Naked Rockstud“. If I had to narrow it down to just two pieces, my favourites would be the Naked Rockstud Transparent Slingback Heels (currently a pair of Valentino’s are at the top of my wishlist), and Rockstud Medium Tote in Snake Print.
